The Police and Justice Act published in January 2007 requires every Police Authority in England and Wales to produce a plan setting out the Authority’s policing objectives for that financial year and proposed arrangements for policing in its area for a three year period.
This plan has been drafted by South Yorkshire Police and has been approved by the Police Authority. It is a useful resource for those wishing to find out more about policing in South Yorkshire at a strategic level.
Section 1 identifies the wide range of national and local information analysed to identify the Force Strategic Priorities for 2008-11 and how these have been translated to meet specific needs at local policing districts. Each priority is then broken down into:
- Why this is a priority for SYP;
- What we are going to do to address this; and
- How you will know we have been successful, including targets
This section also identifies what funding South Yorkshire Police Authority receives to enable them to address these priorities.
Section 2 shows how South Yorkshire Police and Police Authority are working with partners to tackle crime and disorder problems locally.
Section 3 looks at mainstreaming the consideration of diversity and equality issues into all policing functions.
Section 4 provides links to all key national documents, consultation results and performance information.
