The Authority raises its finance via a levy on the four district councils in South Yorkshire, who receive a formula grant and must accommodate ITA spending within their own limits.
In 2012/13 a grant of £89.7m to the county’s Passenger Transport Executive (PTE) has been set, down by £8.7m. This incorporates a levy of £88.2 million on the district councils.
This will allow the Authority, via the PTE, to secure the provision of good quality public transport services for those working, living or visiting the county. The funding will also support bus and rail services, passenger facilities and a range of other activities.
