Crime & Disorder Reduction Partnerships
One of the key ways the Police Authority works with partner organisations is through Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnerships (CDRPs). There is a CDRP for each of South Yorkshire’s four Districts. The Authority is one of the ‘responsible authorities’ sitting around the table. Each CDRP has a slightly different membership reflecting arrangements appropriate for each District.
CDRPs were established by the Crime & Disorder Act 1998. They provide a formal structure for public, private and voluntary sector organisations to work together to reduce crime and anti-social behaviour. For more information on CDRPs see: www.crimereduction.homeoffice.gov.uk Each CDRP produces an annual Joint Strategic Intelligence Assessment of local need.
The Police Authority has Members sitting on the CDRPs as follows:
| District | Police Authority Member |
| Barnsley | Chris Lamb |
| Doncaster | Cllr Barbara Hoyle |
| Rotherham | Cllr Georgina Boyes |
| Sheffield | Cllr Sylvia Anginotti / Cllr Ibrar Hussain |
Children and Young People’s Boards
The Police Authority is currently working with Councils so that we can sit on local Children and Young People’s Boards. This is to help meet our ten promises to young people. As one of the relevant local bodies, the Police Authority has a general responsibility under The Children Act, 2004 Part 2 s.10 to work with ‘children services authorities’ (local councils) to: safeguard, protect and promote the well being of children and young people (0-18 years). A national programme, Every Child Matters: Change for Children, targets partner activity around five themes. These act as pillars to ensure, whatever a child’s background, they have the support they need to:
• Be healthy
• Stay safe
• Enjoy and achieve
• Make a positive contribution
• Achieve economic well-being
Local Criminal Justice Board
The Police Authority works with the Local Criminal Justice Board to share plans and priorities. The board was set up in April 2003 to oversee the criminal justice system in the county, and consists of members from: the police, the crown prosecution service, courts, probation, prisons and youth offending teams.
