South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Authority awarded Member Development Charter 

 South Yorkshire has become the first Fire and Rescue Authority in Yorkshire and Humber to be recognised for its commitment to developing and supporting elected Members.   The Elected Member Development Charter recognises the commitment of South Yorkshire Fire Authority in providing a tailored programme of learning and development for Councillors.

Authority approves Fire Service proposals 

Proposals put forward by South Yorkshire Fire & Rescue (SYFR) to deal with an expected £10 million cut in Government funding have been approved by the Fire Authority at its meeting today (Monday 26 March).

Chair of Fire & Rescue Authority and Chief Fire Officer attend Parliamentary debate on cuts to Met Fire Authorities 

Authority Chair, Cllr Jim Andrews and Chief Fire Officer, Jamie Courtney, visited Parliament on Wednesday 6th March to supoprt a Parliamentary debate secured by MPs from Metropolitan areas.  The debate was to express concern at the level of Government cuts to Metropolitan Fire Authorities like South Yorkshire, and to urge a fairer funding settlement in 2013-15.  It is part of an ongoing campaign which has been led by Rotherham MP, John Healey, to minimise the level of future cuts to the Fire and Rescue Service.
